This Privacy Policy explains how Tarakan Limited ("Tarakan", "we", "us") collects,
uses, and shares information when you play our mobile games and use related services
(together, the "Games"). It applies to all of our Games unless a specific Game provides
its own policy.
Our Games are made for a general audience that includes children and families. Because
children may play them, we designed them to be safe for kids: you do not need an
account to play, we never ask for your name, email address, or other contact details,
and we show only non-personalised, age-appropriate ads to everyone. This policy
describes the limited information our advertising and analytics providers process from
your device, and the steps we take to protect players, especially children.
Our promise to families
- We never show personalised or behavioural ads to players.
- We never build advertising profiles of children or track them across apps.
- We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not require an account.
- We show only age-appropriate (G-rated) ad content.
Advertising data (non-personalised)
Our games show ads through Google AdMob. We enable child-directed treatment, so ads are non-personalised (chosen from the app context, not from a profile of you). AdMob may still use a device advertising identifier for limited purposes such as frequency capping, fraud prevention, and aggregate reporting. We do not allow it to be used to build advertising profiles or to track players across apps.
Usage and analytics data
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how people play, for example which levels are reached, session length, and in-app events. This is tied to app-instance identifiers rather than your name, and we disable collection of the advertising identifier by our analytics.
Diagnostic and crash data
We use Firebase Crashlytics to detect and fix crashes and errors. When the app crashes it may collect a stack trace, the device state at the time, and an app-instance identifier so we can reproduce the problem.
Device and technical information
To operate the game and deliver the right content, we and our providers process technical details such as device model, operating system version, language, region, network type, and approximate (IP-derived) location.
Remote configuration
We use Firebase Remote Config to adjust game behaviour (such as ad frequency) without shipping an update. This reads configuration values and app-instance identifiers; it does not collect additional personal information from you.
We do not knowingly collect precise location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera
data, or the contents of your messages. We do not ask children for personal
information, and we do not sell personal information.
- Operate, maintain, and provide the features of our games.
- Show non-personalised, age-appropriate (G-rated) ads and measure their performance in aggregate.
- Understand how players use our games so we can improve them.
- Diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and keep the game stable and secure.
- Protect against fraud, abuse, and violations of our terms.
- Comply with our legal obligations.
We do not use any information to build profiles of players, to show personalised ads,
or for any purpose unrelated to running and improving the Games.
We share the limited information described above with the service providers that make
the Games work. We configure each provider for child-directed treatment so it does not
use the data for personalised advertising. Each provider has its own privacy practices:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, to protect
the rights and safety of our players and Tarakan, or in connection with a business
transfer such as a merger or acquisition.
Our Games are supported by ads served through Google AdMob. Because children may play
our Games, we apply AdMob's child-directed treatment to all players, which means:
- Ads are non-personalised: they are chosen from the game's context, not from any profile of the player.
- Ad content is limited to an age-appropriate (G) rating.
- The advertising identifier is not used for remarketing or to build interest profiles.
Our Games are made for a general audience, but we know children play them, so we apply
children's privacy protections to everyone and comply with children's privacy laws,
including the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the "children"
provisions of the EU and UK GDPR, and the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
We do not ask children to provide personal information such as name, email address,
or phone number, and we do not require an account to play. The only information
processed is the limited device and app data described above, which is used to
operate the Games, show non-personalised ads, understand gameplay in aggregate, and
fix crashes. We do not knowingly collect more than this from children.
Parents and guardians can contact us at
privacy@tarakan.app
to ask what information relates to their child's device, to request that we delete
it, or to refuse further collection. Because we hold only device and app-instance
identifiers rather than a child's name, we may ask for the relevant identifier so we
can locate the data.
Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating,
securing, and improving the Games and in showing non-personalised ads to support them.
We do not carry out consent-based ad personalisation or profiling of children. Under
the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, we collect information only as reasonably necessary
for these purposes.
We keep information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this
policy, after which it is deleted or aggregated. Our providers apply their own
retention periods to the data they process. We use reasonable technical and
organisational measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or
storage is completely secure.
We are based in New Zealand, and our providers process data on servers located in
other countries, including the United States. When information is transferred across
borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses)
where required by law.
Depending on where you live, you (or a parent on a child's behalf) may have some or all
of the following rights:
- Access the information we hold that relates to your device or app instance.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date.
- Ask us to delete information, subject to legal exceptions.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Request a copy of the information in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at
privacy@tarakan.app. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we
will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide a notice in the
Game. Continuing to play after an update means you accept the revised policy.
If you have questions or concerns about this policy or your child's information,
contact Tarakan Limited at
privacy@tarakan.app.
If you are in New Zealand and are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the
Office of the Privacy Commissioner at
privacy.org.nz. If you are in the EU or UK, you may lodge a complaint with your local data
protection authority.
